Tarlo River surrounds and goes through Riverview for 2km.

As you’d imagine the river provides a special environment encouraging many rare plants to thrive. The willows in particular are iconic first being planted over 200 years ago by the first European settlers in the area. They used to line the entire riverbank as far as the eye can see but in recent decades various landholders have removed them to provide better water access for farmed animals such as cows and sheep. Fortunately previous owners did not do the same here!

As the only reliable water source for many kilometres many different animals congregate and can are active around the river particularly at dusk and after dark. Keep an eye open during the day and an ear out when walking around at night. You’ll see lots of ducks, water fowl and sparrows, hear the frogs tuning and spy plenty of breathing holes for yabbies. Maybe you’ll eye the eagles soaring over the hills or spot one of our platypus friends.

And if you visit after a sustained rain you’ll see Tarlo River in flood. An awesome amount of water. Don’t worry, we’ll keep you and your equipment high and dry.

Access to the river is possible throughout most of the property with crossings at particular spots depending on river conditions. Perfect for cooling off, lazing about in the sun, throwing in a line or drenching your parents … I mean … kids. Or both!
